Eesti Meedia wins procurement to publish EV100 book series

July 04, 2017

Eesti Meedia AS has won the procurement announced by the Government Office to find a publisher for the EV100 book series, which will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia. As of the beginning of next year, more than 40 books will be published to give an overview of the evolution of different fields in Estonia in the past 100 years.

Two offers were submitted to the procurement announced by the Government Office to find a publisher for the Republic of Estonia 100 (EV100) book series.

Toomas Kiho, the chairman of the EV100 steering group, values the offers highly. "We chose Eesti Meedia mainly because of the volume of marketing activities, which would help to achieve that the book would be distributed in Estonia as widely as possible."

The publisher of the book series was chosen based on four criteria. The indicators that were assessed were the size of the editions, the maximum retail price of a book including VAT, the time of publication of the first book, and the sales and marketing plan.

The EV100 organising committee will present the procurement winner with the manuscripts and the winning artwork of the design competition for free.

The EV100 organising committee will buy, in cooperation with partners and the private sector, 440 copies of each book, which would be given as gifts to Estonia's public libraries on the occasion of Estonia's 100th anniversary.

More than 40 books will be published in the EV100 book series as of the start of 2018. Every book will give an overview of the developments of one field in Estonia in the past 100 years.

"The selection of topics is wide and includes overviews ranging from Estonian medicine, education and media to fashion and rock music," Kiho said.
