AS Eesti Meedia to become main sponsor of Estonian men’s national volleyball team

September 13, 2016

The Estonian Volleyball Federation and AS Eesti Meedia have signed a cooperation agreement, in the framework of which the most important volleyball games of the next three seasons will reach Estonians via the television channels and online portals of Eesti Meedia.

The agreement includes TV and online broadcasts of the Estonian men's national team, the League of Hundred, Estonian championships and European championships as well as the Estonian clubs games in CEV Champions League and cooperation in the field of the general marketing of volleyball. In addition, AS Eesti Meedia is at least until the end of the present European Championship cycle the main sponsor of Estonian men's national team with an opportunity to extend the contract by two years.

"I am very glad that the Estonian Volleyball Federation chose Eesti Meedia as a cooperation partner and the main sponsor of the men's national team. Volleyball, which is the only ball game in Estonia to reach the world's highest level, is the sport which has earned the right to reach as many people as possible through the different channels of Eesti Meedia, irrespective of whether the games take place in Estonia or abroad," Sven Nuutmann CEO of AS Eesti Meedia said.

According to Hanno Pevkur, President of the Estonian Volleyball Federation, the volleyball family is very glad that such an agreement has been signed. "Estonia's most successful ball game and Estonia's most successful media group will definitely create great synergy. In order to raise healthy and strong young people who respect sports, it is very important that the "footprint" of volleyball is increased in the Estonian society. An agreement with a media group whose number of daily users is the biggest in Estonia will hopefully provide us with totally new opportunities for increasing the popularity of volleyball."

"The Estonian men's national volleyball team will start with games already on Sept. 15 in the second qualifying round of the 2017 European Championships in Romania and a week later they will compete in the Czech Republic. Kanal 12 and Postimees online will broadcast all games live," said executive producer at AS Eesti Meedia, Marko Kaljuveer. "In the framework of the agreement, more than 100 games of the League of Hundred, which joins the strongest volleyball clubs of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, the Estonian Men's Cup final and the Estonian Championship semifinals and finals are to reach the Estonian audience via the channels of Eesti Meedia or Postimees online during the 2016-2017 season," Kaljuveer introduced the essence of cooperation.

This summer the Estonian men's national team won the CEV Volleyball European League and with that they guaranteed the right to participate in the FIVB Volleyball World League next season. Live broadcasts of the League of Hundred are to start on Oct. 16 with a game between Pärnu VC and Selver Tallinn.

Selver Tallinn and Kohila VC are to participate in the CEV Champions League in October.
