May 06, 2016

Una Klapkalne became the CEO of Latvia's leading news portal SIA TVNET, owned by Eesti Meedia, on Thursday.

Klapkalne will take over from recent head of SIA TVNET Ivars Bauls. Another board member of AS Eesti Meedia's news agency SIA LETA, Juris Mendžiņš, will join the board of SIA TVNET alongside Klapkalne.

“Closer cooperation than recently between TVNET and LETA will benefit from the new CEO's fresh outlook on development,” said CEO of Eesti Meedia Sven Nuutmann, emphasizing TVNET's considerable potential. He thanked Ivars Bauls for the work done and wished him all the best for the future.

TVNET and LETA will continue as two separate companies both legally and from a business perspective.

The TVNET news portal was created in September of 2000 to offer local and international news on political, economic, and social topics. The portal also covers new technologies, entertainment. News broadcasts and video archives were created in cooperation with Latvian Independent Television and Latvian national television. By today TVNET is among the leading news portals in Latvia, offering information in both Latvian and English.
